Adamawa Govt Trains 300 VSO Members
The Adamawa State Government, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNI), has trained 300 members of Volunteer Security Organisations (VSOs) from Yola North, Yola South and Madagali LGAs.
The graduation ceremony, held at the AUN Community Hall, Yola South, was organised through the Ministry for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Reintegration and Humanitarian Services (MRR). Representing the Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary, Pharmacist Amos Enoch Piribu, said the programme reflects Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to security, economic empowerment and sustainable peace.
He noted that the vocational skills and starter packs provided were strategic investments in livelihoods and community stability. UNDP’s Ismail Bukar said the EU-funded initiative supports disengagement, reintegration and reconciliation in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, with a total of 600 beneficiaries expected.
AHNI Director of Operations, Mrs. Irene Osaigbovo, commended the peaceful environment in the state and urged beneficiaries to contribute to community development. Traditional leaders also praised the initiative for its potential to curb youth restiveness.
The event featured the presentation of a ₦15 million cheque to the beneficiaries and training in steel pot fabrication, charcoal briquette production, POP design and poultry farming.
Nigerians can now invest ₦2.5 million on premium domains and profit about ₦17-₦25 million. All earnings paid in US Dollars. Rather than wonder, click here to find out how it works.
