Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has said that the operational presence of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) bases in Calabar and surrounding areas has significantly preserved peace, stability and security in the state.
The governor stated this when he called on the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, yesterday in his office in Abuja.
He noted that strengthening collaboration with the NAF was essential for maintaining stability and enabling development.
Otu said, “Cross River State will continue to work closely with the Nigerian Air Force to enhance security and create an environment where our people and the economy can thrive.”

He emphasised that sustained synergy between the state government and the NAF remained critical for advancing collective security and national development.
Speaking, the CAS reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening security cooperation for the peace and prosperity of the state and the nation.
He said that the visit “reaffirms the strong relationship between the Nigerian Air Force and the Government of Cross River State.”
He emphasised the NAF’s dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity, assuring the governor of continued collaboration in internal security operations, disaster response, humanitarian assistance and the protection of critical infrastructure.
