The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja has admonished Yoruba people to be vigilant amid security challenges facing the country.
In a statement by his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Sunday, it was stated that Olubadan made the call at Ode-Omu in Osun State on the occasion of Ode-Omu Day, at the weekend.
Ode-Omu is a yearly celebration where the people take stock of community development and project into the future.
The monarch commended the people under the leadership of Alaye Ode-Omu, Oba Bolarinwa Oladipupo for their spirit of community development.
He said, “Let me use this occasion to urge Yoruba people to be vigilant amid security challenges facing Nigeria.
“I want to pledge the readiness of Ibadan to always support Ode-Omu’s development. That next year, an illustrious son and Parakoyi of Ibadanland, Chief Tunde Afolabi would be drafted to chair Ode-Omu Day,” Olubadan promised.
Earlier, the former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan had told the multitudes that it was the Ibadan ancient warriors who settled Ode-Omu in their present location in 1909.
He also commended all the royal fathers, particularly the Olubadan for massive attendance at the occasion.
The members of Olubadan-in-council who graced the occasion were Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola; Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, and High Chief Sharafadeen Alli, Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, who is also a senator representing Oyo South in the National Assembly.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi was represented by Salu of Edunabon, Oba Kehinde Oladepo while the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Francis Adedoyin and his Chiefs were also in attendance.
