President Bola Tinubu has received the credentials of India’s new High Commissioner to Nigeria, Abhishek Singh, at a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.
The Indian High Commission disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the presentation of the Letter of Credence formally marks the beginning of Singh’s diplomatic assignment in Nigeria.
According to the Mission, Tinubu “graciously received Amb. Singh and extended his congratulations and best wishes for the assumption of his duties.”
Singh, while outlining his priorities, reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening its long-standing ties with Nigeria, describing both countries as strategic partners.
“Marking the assumption of his duties, Amb Singh reiterated India’s commitment to further strengthen its strategic partnership with Nigeria and expressed confidence in the continued advancement of bilateral cooperation across diverse sectors,” the statement read.
The High Commission said it would continue to work toward expanding cooperation between both countries in the coming years.
Singh assumed office as High Commissioner on October 9, 2025. He previously served as India’s Ambassador to Venezuela from August 2020 to July 2023.
