Vice President Kashim Shettima is in Lagos State to attend the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference 2025.
He was received on Monday by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other top government officials.
The governor, in turn, was welcomed at the event by the service chiefs.
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), alongside other service chiefs, is also attending the conference. Musa was seen exchanging greetings with his former colleagues.
Announcing the VP’s arrival on X on Monday, Stanley Nkwocha, Spokesman to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), said Shettima represents President Bola Tinubu as a Special Guest of Honour.
“Upon arrival at the venue of the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference in Lagos, Vice President Kashim Shettima inspected a military guard of honour, in line with the armed forces’ traditional way of paying tribute to a dignitary,” Nkwocha wrote.
The conference, themed “Examining the Current Landscape of Terrorism Through the Lenses of Diplomatic and Military Action Strategy for Long-term Prevention and Stabilisation,” is designed to explore strategies for countering terrorism through both diplomatic and military approaches.
In addition, the event will feature the unveiling of the book A Life of Service, honouring the 23rd Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
