Katsina Governor pledges to uphold Buhari’s legacy, extends urban renewal to Daura LGA
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has embarked on a statewide local government tour, during which he vowed not to abandon the people of Daura Local Government Area, citing the unalloyed support he received from the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, during the 2023 elections.
Speaking in Daura on Wednesday, Governor Radda credited the late president’s backing, coupled with divine intervention, as instrumental to his victory in the 2023 general elections. He described Daura, the late president’s hometown, as a historic and political hub, promising to build and sustain Buhari’s legacies.
“I swear, there is the hand of late President Muhammadu Buhari in the victory of this seat I am occupying today. He supported us and Allah has given us victory. I will not abandon the people of Daura because of our father, late President Muhammadu Buhari”, Radda stated to a vast crowd at the Daura local government Secretariat on Wednesday.

Radda, while speaking on the infrastructure and healthcare boost, announced that his administration has extended its urban renewal initiative to the ancient city of Daura, with the award of a N19.55 billion road project to significantly advance the area’s socio-economic activities.
The project involves the recent award of a 14.43-kilometre dualisation bypass, designed to expand the historic city and tackle traffic gridlock. The Governor also reaffirmed his commitment to completing the dualisation of the Daura Ring Road next year.
According to him, “We are committed to completing the 14.43-kilometre dualisation of the Daura bypass road. This project is a major priority for us,” he said, noting that the dualisation will improve safety, enhance connectivity, and support businesses.
In the healthcare sector, Governor Radda disclosed that the Daura General Hospital has been officially transferred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) to enhance service delivery. Simultaneously, the state government is constructing a new general hospital in the area, with completion scheduled for next year.
The Governor explained that the tour was designed to reconnect with citizens two years after the 2023 elections, understand their current needs, and ensure government programmes are aligned with grassroots priorities.
While on the tour in the Daura Zone, Governor Radda also reaffirmed his administration’s strong support for Local Government autonomy just as he commended the Chairman of Zango Local Government Area for delivering tangible results within three months, citing it as proof that the autonomy is working.
“Every intervention in Zango, whether in power, water, roads, agriculture, or security, is a direct investment in the wellbeing of our people. This administration will continue to support local governments to deliver meaningful and measurable impact,” he asserted, adding that the recorded achievements demonstrate what empowered, accountable, and visionary local government leadership can accomplish.
