Gov Fintiri Upgrades Cottage Hospital, Commissions Int’l Cattle Market in Mayo Belwa
The Local Government Councils tour by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State entered its second day on Thursday, January 29, 2026, with a visit to Mayo Belwa Local Government Area.
The Governor continued his statewide engagement with communities through project inspections, commissioning, and direct interaction with the people.
Governor Fintiri’s first point of call in Mayo Belwa was the inspection of the ongoing remodeling and upgrade of the Mayo Belwa Cottage Hospital.
He expressed satisfaction with the speed, quality, and standard of work, describing the project as a clear demonstration of his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
In a major announcement that drew excitement from residents, Governor Fintiri declared the upgrade of the Cottage Hospital to a General Hospital.
He disclosed that the facility would be equipped with state-of-the-art medical infrastructure and staffed with qualified healthcare personnel, with commissioning scheduled for later this year.
The Governor also commissioned the Mayo Belwa International Cattle Market, one of the eight international cattle markets being constructed by the Fintiri administration across the state.
Re-emphasizing the purpose of the Local Government Tour, Governor Fintiri stated that the exercise is not a political campaign but an opportunity to engage directly with the people, listen to their concerns, inspect ongoing projects, and commission completed ones. He noted that politics has its own time and space.
“This is not a campaign,” Governor Fintiri said. “This tour is about governance. When the time for campaigns comes, we will campaign properly, and the opposition will clearly know that Governor Fintiri is fully on the field.”
Governor Fintiri also expressed delight with the warm reception from the people of Mayo Belwa, noting that their support reflects the positive impact of government policies, programmes, and projects across critical social and economic sectors of Adamawa State.
He assured residents that his administration remains focused on delivering people-oriented development and ensuring that every local government benefits from purposeful governance.
