Katsina blames recalcitrant bandit for Malumfashi attacks
The Katsina State Government has attributed recent bandit attacks in some communities in Malumfashi Local Government Area, to a defiant bandit leader, Mani Doro, who refused to engage in the ongoing peace process.
Bandits late Monday night launched a coordinated raid on some communities in Malumfashi LGA, where Doro is said to be operating, killing eight persons and kidnapping an unspecified number of others.
The Director-General of Media to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, Maiwada Damallam, said in a statement that Katsina had been enjoying relative peace due to a combination of kinetic and non-kinetic security strategies implemented by the state government.
“The recent attacks in Malumfashi Local Government Area were carried out by the notorious bandit Mani Doro, who operates from the Danmusa axis.
“Doro is among the few defiant criminals who refused to embrace peace negotiations initiated by local communities. Security agencies are actively pursuing him,” Damallam said.
He explained that the improved security environment followed sustained peace talks between repentant bandits and local communities, closely monitored by the government, alongside intensified military operations to prevent and repel attacks.
Damallam assured residents that the recent incidents do not signal a breakdown of the peace process.
