
Buni rewards teenage winners of Global English competition
Gov Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has announced a N30 million gift to three teenagers for emerging overall best in English Language and debate competition at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London.
The champions, Nafisa Abdullahi, Ruqayya Fema and Hadiza Kalli, are all students of Nigeria Tulip International College, Mamudo in the state.
Buni, who made the announcement in Damaturu on Thursday, also approved scholarships for the champions into tertiary institutions.
He described the victory as an “incredible feat” that brought glory to the state and country in general.
“These are great feats that make us proud and justify government’s investment in the education sector,” the governor said.
According to Buni, the state annually spends N2.6 billion in scholarship for 890 students of the college, built and funded by the state but managed by Turks.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abdullahi, Fema and Kalli defeated 20,000 contestants from 69 countries during the competition held in August 2025.(NAN)
