
NAPTIP hands over 11 trafficking victims to Jigawa LG

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has handed over 11 victims of human trafficking to the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at a meeting in Dutse, the state capital, on Sunday, the NAPTIP Commander in the state, Abdulkadir Turajo, said the victims were rescued by the agency’s operatives in Lokoja, Kogi State.
Turajo, who was represented by the command’s Head of Operations, Yunusa Mohammed, said the victims, all males aged between seven and 15, are from Tsaba, Kunkurawa and Tsabare villages in Ringim Local Government Area.
He said the handover was facilitated by the Jigawa State Ministry for Local Government and Community Development.
The commander commended the Ringim Local Government Area and the state Ministry for Local Government for their prompt response, which he said enabled the swift reintegration of the victims with their families.
Turajo further reiterated the agency’s commitment to combating human trafficking through victim identification, rescue and reunification across the country.
Receiving the rescued children, the Chairman of Ringim Local Government Area, Badamasi Garba, commended NAPTIP for its intervention.
Garba, who was represented by the council’s Director of Personnel Management, Idana Isah, pledged the council’s commitment to the effective reintegration and rehabilitation of the children and to preventing future occurrences.
