2027: Kano ex-LG chairmen warn against premature endorsements
The Chairman of the ALGON Integrity Group, comprising former local government chairmen who served between 2021 and 2024, Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State to halt early endorsements or opposition to aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said such actions were unnecessary at this stage as they could disrupt party stability.
Addressing journalists in Kano, Farawa commended former APC National Chairman and ex-governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for issuing a unifying directive that cautioned party members against premature political maneuvers.
He said Ganduje’s intervention was timely and aimed at reinforcing discipline and coherence within the party.
Farawa noted that the ALGON Integrity Group stood firmly behind Ganduje’s guidance, describing it as a strategic step toward strengthening internal consultation and ensuring the APC approached the next electoral cycle with a united front.
“We appreciate His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for his call for love, peace and unity among party members. His appeal to suspend endorsements or challenges to governorship aspirants at this point is timely and necessary,” he said.
He urged party loyalists to respect due process and allow wide consultations before any decision was made regarding the 2027 governorship ticket.
“We are confident that when stakeholders come together to deliberate and agree on the best direction for the party, the APC will come out stronger and more cohesive. This approach has worked in the past and will work again,” he added.
Farawa further appealed to party members to rally behind Ganduje’s leadership and work collectively for the APC’s progress, stressing that unity remained the party’s strongest asset as it prepared for future political contests.
