
FCT polls: CP meets chairmanship candidates, stakeholders
Ahead of the February 21 chairmanship elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Commissioner of Police (CP), Miller G. Dantawaye, met with chairmanship candidates and party stakeholders on Wednesday.
During the meeting, he called for peace before and during the polls, stressing that elections must not be seen as a “do-or-die affair.”
CP Dantawaye, joined by Police Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), addressed a cross-section of stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, and commercial motorcycle/tricycle unions in Mabushi and the Bwari Area Council.
He stated that the interactive session was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the police and host communities.
He emphasized that the focus remains on improving police service delivery and promoting peaceful coexistence ahead of the forthcoming area councils’ elections.
The Commissioner further called on stakeholders to admonish their youths and wards to maintain a spirit of mutual understanding and peace.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to inclusive policing, emphasizing that effective security can only be achieved through mutual trust, timely information sharing, and active community participation.
