Comedian and master of ceremonies, Sunday Onyenachiya, professionally known as Sunny Messiah, has completed the live recording of his debut stand-up special, Paternity Leave, before a sold-out crowd at the Alliance Française de Lagos/Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi.
The performance showcased Sunny Messiah’s signature mix of articulate English, sharp humour, and heartfelt storytelling, exploring fatherhood, marriage, family life, and the everyday realities of modern Nigerian adulthood.
“Paternity Leave is my story. It’s a mix of love, stress, joy, and the little madness that comes with raising a family. I wanted to bring those moments to life in a relatable way. If someone laughs hard enough to find healing or courage for marriage or parenthood, then I’m grateful. That’s the power of laughter,” he told Saturday Beats.
The show also featured performances by rising comedy talents, including ChimeFrancis, Iykomo, Dexmond, Funny Urch, Saint Envi, and AkanLaff, alongside a bass solo by HenryFretz, a musical act by P’Madox, and hosting by Ebuka Mic. Senator Comedian made a surprise appearance, adding extra excitement for the audience.
