
APC wins Kuje chairmanship in FCT polls
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Danjuma Samuel Shekolo, winner of the Kuje Area Council chairmanship election held on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Nkiruka Odoh of the University of Abuja, announced the result, stating that Shekolo polled 17,269 votes to defeat his closest rival, Danlami Zakoyi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 15,824 votes.
According to the results announced by INEC, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secured 7,016 votes, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) garnered 4,305 votes.
Other parties recorded lower votes: AA scored five votes; ADP polled 84 votes; APM got 58 votes; NNPP secured 175 votes; SDP had 28 votes; ZLP recorded six votes; while another party scored 24 votes.
Speaking shortly after the declaration, Shekolo commended INEC for conducting what he described as a successful election.
He also thanked his supporters for their confidence in him and pledged to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Kuje Area Council.
