Court fixes date in case of woman who allegedly killed hubby week after wedding
A Kano State High Court has fixed January 27, 2026, for the continuation of a hearing involving the alleged murder of a man by his wife in Farawa community on the outskirts of Kano.
The defendant, Sa’adatu Sabo, is being accused of stabbing her husband, Salisu Idris, barely a week after their wedding.
At the resumed sitting, the presiding Judge, Justice Maryam Sabo, dismissed a witness presented by the prosecution following an objection raised by the defence counsel.
The defence argued that the defendant had not been properly served with the charge sheet, stating she was brought before the court without being formally informed of the specific allegations against her.
Furthermore, the defence team informed the court that during the initial sitting, the defendant was represented by individuals who were not certified legal practitioners, raising concerns over the validity of the earlier proceedings.
The prosecution counsel, Barrister Lamido Abba Soron Dinki, opposed the defence’s application.
After listening to arguments from both sides, the court upheld the defence’s request in the interest of justice.
Justice Sabo subsequently ordered that the defendant be duly served with the charges in accordance with legal procedure.
The court adjourned the matter to January 27.
