
UNILORIN Honours Gov Lawal with Award of Excellence
The University of Ilorin has honoured the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of what it described as his outstanding leadership, commitment to public service and contributions to national development.
The award was presented during the institution’s 50th anniversary celebration held in Ilorin, Kwara State.
In its citation, the university described Governor Lawal as “a model of principled leadership whose actions reflect the values of excellence, integrity and service to humanity.” It added that his reforms in governance, education, economic revitalisation and security align with UNILORIN’s vision of raising leaders committed to knowledge, character and nation-building.
A statement issued by Suleman Ahmad Tudu, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), quoted the university as saying the honour was “a fitting testament to Your Excellency’s exemplary leadership, dedication to service, and significant contributions to the socio-economic and educational advancement of Nigeria.”
It added: “The University, renowned for its academic rigour and integrity, has recognized in you the very qualities it strives to instill in its students.”
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, the SSG, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, expressed appreciation to the university for the recognition, saying it would further motivate Governor Lawal to intensify his efforts in rebuilding institutions, empowering communities and advancing inclusive development in Zamfara and the country.
He also congratulated the university on its golden jubilee, commending its legacy of academic excellence and its impact on generations of Nigerians. Nakwada urged the institution to continue upholding the values of excellence, integrity and national service for which it is known.
