How FCT residents can locate polling units before election day – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to utilize its digital platforms to identify their polling units ahead of the Area Council elections scheduled for February 21.
The INEC Administrative Secretary for the FCT, Mrs. Abimbola Oladunjoye, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.
She urged residents not to wait until election day to locate their voting points.
“We have about three different technologies that can be used,” Oladunjoye said. “First, if you are unsure of your polling unit’s name or details, you can visit voters.inecnigeria.org. By entering your details, the system will display your specific polling unit and provide a link for directions.”
She further explained that for voters who know their polling unit’s name or code but are unsure of its exact physical location, the commission has provided a dedicated locator tool.
“There is pula.inecnigeria.org (Polling Unit Locator Tool). All the information you need about polling units is there. Once you access the site, select FCT, your ward, and your polling unit, and it will provide directions,” she said.
Oladunjoye added a third option for tech-savvy voters: “We also have inecnigeria.org/location, where you can input your polling unit details to get Google Maps directions. These three digital avenues ensure that no one is stranded on election day.”
In addition to these online platforms, the Administrative Secretary noted that INEC would implement physical measures to assist voters. This includes pasting the register of voters at every polling unit four to five days prior to the elections. (NAN)
