Troops rescue 9 kidnap victims in Kaduna, Taraba
Soldiers have rescued nine kidnapped victims during operations in Kaduna and Taraba states.
In Kaduna, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued six victims during coordinated clearance operations in Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia and Kagarko LGAs.
The acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division, Lt. Col. Shu’aib Umar, said in a statement that the victims were freed on January 5, following a distress alert on the movement of bandits around the Kasso Hills.
He explained that troops of Sub-Sector 5, already on clearance operations in the Kujeni area, swiftly moved to the location and engaged the criminals with suppressive fire, forcing them to flee into the forest.
He said the six victims were later handed over to officials of Kajuru LGA and the Kajuru Emirate Council for reunification with their families.
Similarly, troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued three victims in Karim-Lamido LGA of Taraba State.
It was gathered that acting on credible intelligence, the troops pursued suspected kidnappers who abandoned their captives and fled, with the rescued victims identified as Nimron Umar (25), Abafaras Ibrahim (20) and Habila Yunusa (23).
