Hisbah arrests 8 teen female wanderers in Kano
Men of the Kano State Hisbah Board have arrested eight teenage girls and one young man over their alleged involvement in street wandering activities commonly referred to as “good evening”.
The Deputy Commander-General of the board, Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, said the suspects were apprehended during a special end-of-year operation carried out across major roads within the Kano metropolis.
He explained that the operation involved coordinated raids on several strategic locations during which Hisbah operatives intercepted the suspects allegedly participating in the “good evening” activity.
Dr. Aminuddeen further alleged that the girls were often patronised by affluent individuals who reportedly conveyed them to various locations for social outings and entertainment, paying them sums ranging from N5,000 to N30,000.
He said the raids were conducted across multiple areas including Zoo Road, Banana Island Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, Lamido Crescent, Tukur Road, Lodge Road, Nassarawa Hospital Road, Magajin Rumfa Road, Sultan Road and Audu Bako Way.
Dr. Aminuddeen called on parents and guardians to take greater responsibility for the upbringing and moral guidance of their children to prevent them from falling into social vices.
He added that once investigations were completed, the suspects would be charged to court.
