The National Chairman of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) have visited Niger and Kebbi States to express solidarity with communities affected by recent attacks.
The PDP Chairman who said the visit was aimed at standing with the people during their difficult moment, added that “Nigeria must be a nation where every child is protected and every community feels secure.”
As part of the visit, the PDP leadership also paid a courtesy call on the former President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB).
Turaki said IBB’s timeless wisdom and counsel continued to inspire their commitment to unity, justice, and national stability.
At the Government House, the delegation met with Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to express their pain, solidarity, and unwavering support to the affected families, adding that “No community deserves to live under the shadow of fear.
“As leaders, this is the kind of heartbreak we pray never to encounter, yet we remain steadfast in ensuring that hope prevails.
“We assured the governor and the families that the PDP stands firmly behind every lawful effort to secure the safe return of all abducted citizens. The safety and dignity of every Nigerian child must be non-negotiable.”
While in Kebbi State, the delegation delivered the same message of solidarity as the Chairman commended the swift and coordinated efforts of the Kebbi State Government and security agencies, which led to the safe rescue of the recently abducted schoolgirls, adding that the rescue brought relief that all the girls were returned unharmed and that none suffered any form of abuse.
“Their safety is a victory not just for their families, but for every Nigerian who believes that our children deserve protection, education, and peace.” he said.
