
EDUCATION: Gov. Lawal Orders for the Digitalization of SSCE Registration
Governor Lawal centralized the registration of Senior Secondary Schools Certification Examinations (SSCE) to digitize the process and avert corruption aimed at uplifting the falling Standard of Education in Zamfara state.
Governor Lawal stated this during a meeting with all Principals and Examination Officers of the Senior Secondary Schools in the state.
Governor Lawal also drowned the attention of the Principals and Examination Officers on the need to contribute positively for the development of education in the state.
“Everything we do we have records, we don’t do things blindly or because we don’t like somebody, we conduct our actions based on facts, on this year alone we spent billions of naira on WAEC and NECO and most of these things are 419 and these happened either with your aid and we will sow you our discoveries based on the forensic investigation we did. The Gov. Said.
Governor Lawal further reiterates the commitment of his administration to ensure full energy supply across the school in the state.
“We are currently on pilot projects to solarize most of the school for easy facilitation of your activities. We put all efforts to make sure we provide the best for the good people of Zamfara State.
Governor Lawal showed dismay over the attitudes of the Principals and Examination Officers of the School in the state regarding corrupt practices attached to the registration of Senior Secondary Schools Certification Examinations (SSCE).
“I personally requested for this meeting with the Principals of secondary schools as well as Examination Officers just to meet you one on one more especially to warn you on the abnormalities of WAEC and NECO, you are well aware of challenges we are facing as far as Education is concerned.
“There is a serious cartel in your respective schools as far as NECO and WAEC registration is concerned and you are the courses of this problem, so I decided to tell notified to redress from acts before taking actions.
“We are doing so much to Uplift the falling Standard of Education and that is why we declared a State of Emergency in the sector. We are spending billions of naira either renovation schools or furnishings schools, accreditation, or providing scholarships, it costs a lot of money, we want vulnerable children to have access to Education like every child. Gov. Lawal said.
Governor Lawal warned all the principals and Examination Officers of the Secondary Schools to desist from partaking in the registration process of the Senior Secondary Schools Examinations (SSCE) due to reported cases of corruption and diversion of basic educational materials.
Governor Lawal vowed to take decisive action against anyone caught and refused to abide by the recent directives.
“We have reported cases that some of the basic things we provide for students don’t go to them which is unfair and not encouraging, we are trying to rebuild the schools but the way and manner you manage the schools is not encouraging and we are doing this for the poor vulnerable people of Zamfara State. Governor Lawal lamented.
“Principals, Examination Officers, Officials of the ministry of Education, I am here by warning all of you, you have no business with SSCE Registration somebody will do it. The Governor warned.
Governor Lawal said, the Digitalization process will capture the details of each student from the very day he steps into school.
“We are going to have biometrics of every student from Junior Secondary School 1-3 and from Senior Secondary School 1-3 with proper record, no more inclusion of private schools into public schools registration and pocket their money, henceforth, there will be mandatory verification and updating on how students transit from JSS 1-3 and SS 1-3.
“We have clear evidence on these abnormalities with facts and figures, you have injected 6000 ghost students in the WAEC and NECO Registration and this cost the state N330 Million, we have all the evidence. Gov. Lawal said.
Governor Lawal now assigned the Executive Secretary of Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA) Habib Gajam to handle the registration process of every student in Zamfara state.
“We want transparency and accountability, public treasury is a trust to us and we must do whatever we can to protect it.
“We want to help the masses, we want to help those that can’t afford it. We want their children to go to school and have access to Education like every other person. We want to make so many easy for a common man and you are complicating matters.
Governor Lawal said, forensic investigation revealed that, there is indiscipline enrollment of private schools into government sponsorship programs and therefore banned SS 3 transfer students inline with the new policy of the Federal Ministry of Education.
