
A salute to leadership: Africa’s richest Indian, Prateek Suri, praises President Mnangagwa’s vision
Maser Group chief executive officer Prateek Suri has met with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the country’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Tatenda Mavetera, in an engagement focused on economic development and digital transformation.
The meeting, which took place recently, brought together business and government leaders to discuss investment, infrastructure and technology-led growth. According to people familiar with the discussions, the engagement also touched on regional development and Zimbabwe’s position within Southern Africa.
During the visit, Suri presented President Mnangagwa with a copy of his memoir, Gateway to Africa, which documents his business activities on the continent and explores Africa’s economic potential.

In discussions with Minister Mavetera, Suri highlighted the importance of digital infrastructure and technology-driven governance in modern economies. The ICT minister outlined the government’s priorities in expanding digital connectivity, promoting innovation and strengthening technology adoption across public services.
President Mnangagwa welcomed the engagement and reiterated his government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment while pursuing inclusive economic growth. Minister Mavetera said the administration remains focused on building a digitally enabled economy that supports education, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Observers say the meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Zimbabwe to engage private-sector actors as part of its broader economic and digital development agenda.
