
NAPTIP intercepts 10 trafficked children in Taraba
The Taraba State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has intercepted a suspected trafficker with 10 children in Jalingo.
In a statement issued to journalists on Friday in Jalingo, the state commandant, Mr Bako Amos, said the arrest followed a tip-off.
He said the suspect was intercepted at about 11:00am in collaboration with the Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Human Trafficking, Mrs Sarah Ishaya.
“We intercepted them at Kurmi Park, Jalingo, while they were preparing to traffic the children to an unknown destination,” he said.
Amos added that both the suspect and the victims are currently in NAPTIP custody, while investigation is ongoing.
