Alex Iwobi goal, assist inspire Fulham to 3-1 win over Sunderland
Alex Iwobi scored a goal and an assist as Fulham secured a 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, ending their three-match Premier League losing streak.
The Super Eagles midfielder was key to Marco Silva’s side, claiming maximum points, while compatriot Calvin Bassey also made a decisive contribution by winning a penalty that extended Fulham’s advantage.

Fulham seized control shortly after the restart, with Iwobi orchestrating the breakthrough in the 54th minute. The Nigerian delivered a precise corner that Raul Jimenez powered into the bottom corner to hand the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Seven minutes later, Fulham doubled their advantage following a VAR review that awarded a penalty after Bassey was fouled in the area. Jimenez stepped up and converted confidently to make it 2-0.
Sunderland reduced the deficit in the 76th minute when Enzo Le Fee converted from the spot after Ryan Sessegnon was penalised for a foul inside the box, raising hopes of a comeback.
However, Iwobi extinguished any revival in the 85th minute. Latching onto a pass inside the area, he showed composure to finish from a tight angle and restore Fulham’s two-goal cushion at 3-1.
Iwobi was substituted three minutes later after an influential display that underlined his growing importance in Silva’s system. His combination of creativity and clinical finishing proved decisive as Fulham climbed into the top half of the table.
The result moves Fulham into 10th place with 11 games remaining in the season. Marco Silva’s men sit eight points adrift of the European qualification spots heading into the final round of fixtures
