Put your house in order, Olubadan tells agitators of State creation

Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland,  has told advocates of New Oyo State with Capital in Oyo to put their house in order for their dream of a new State to become a reality.

Receiving the Committee on the creation of Ibadan and New Oyo State at the Olubadan Palace, Oke- Aremo, Ibadan on Thursday, Oba Ladoja stated that while the creation of Ibadan State might be easier, contentions over the name or the likely capital of New Oyo State might pose a challenge.

He said, “Iseyin is interested in becoming a state capital . Agunrege is interested. Oyo is interested. Ogbomoso is not talking.All these towns, including virgin lands are qualified to become State Capitals.

“If truth must be told,you need to build consensus. You need compromise”, Oba Ladoja implored the delegation led by Engr Francis Adedayo and Prof Saheed Malik that Oke-Ogun has 10 local governments.Ogbomoso has four local governments.How much of Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso representation do we have here? You can not wish them away”.

Speaking in the same vein, Ojelabi Morakinyo from Ibarapa, said “there is no doubt that Ibadan and Ibarapa have come a long way. So,there is no controversy between Ibadan and Ibarapa.”
