Police arrest top Kano anti‑graft czar, Muhuyi Rimin Gado
Muhuyi Magaji RiminGado, the immediate past chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti‑Corruption Commission (PCACC), has been arrested by the police.
He was reported to be arrested by heavily armed officers who stormed his law firm in Kano, on Friday.
Eyewitnesses told Daily Trust that a truckload of heavily armed officers stormed his law office along Zaria Road, warning bystanders not to interfere and threatening to open fire if anyone attempted to intervene.
Rimin Gado, who was whisked away by the team, reportedly demanded to see an arrest warrant or be informed of the reason for his arrest.
The officers declined, insisting they were acting on instructions from the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Lawyer Ridwan Zakariyya, who witnessed the incident, said the former PCACC boss was later transported to the Kano command headquarters in Bompai.
According to him, the officers identified themselves as members of the Inspector‑General of Police (IGP) Squad from Abuja.
Zakariyya further alleged that during the operation, the policemen attempted to seize his phone and threatened him with gunfire.
This is the second time Rimin Gado has been taken into custody in 2025.
Earlier in January, he was detained by the IGP Monitoring Unit over the seizure of property reportedly linked to a senior All Progressives Congress (APC) member.
He was released shortly afterward.
Efforts to reach Kano Police Command spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, for comment proved unsuccessful, as he did not answer calls placed to his phone and had not responded to a text message at the time of filing this report.
