
Investigation on GO’s daughter abduction in progress — Oyo PPRO

The Oyo State Police Command says investigation is underway following the abduction of Mrs Ibukun Otesile, the daughter of Reverend Dr Lekan Babatunde, who was kidnapped in Ibadan on Thursday night, December 4, 2025.
Otesile, a mother of two and daughter of the founder and General Overseer of Jesus Is King Ministries, Ibadan, was taken by unknown persons at the front of her residence in the General Gas area around 8pm.
Her abduction was first announced in an alert posted on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Oyo State Facebook page, #CAN OYO STATE, at 10:08pm on Thursday.
The statement read: “The daughter of our beloved Reverend Dr.Lekan Babatunde, was kidnapped this night Thursday, December 4th 2025, around 8pm, Mrs. Ibukun Otesile, the mother of 2, was kidnapped at the front of her gate at General Gas.”
CAN urged immediate intervention from security agencies and members of the public.
It added: “We call on HQ Nigerian Army , Nigeria Police Force Civil Society, also on well meaningful Nigerians to share this Information to the appropriate quarter.”
The appeal was addressed to the “Oyo State Police Command Eleyele” and signed by “Dr.Olamide Olanrewaju. Personal Assistant/Media Aide Outgoing CAN Chairman Oyo State.”
When contacted on Saturday for an update, calls placed by PUNCH Online to the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, rang out.
A follow-up text message, however, received a response.
Osifeso replied: “Investigation is in progress. Updates will be provided accordingly, please,” in a brief message confirming ongoing efforts.
His earlier confirmation to the Guardian Newspaper was also cited on Friday night, where he was quoted as saying: “She was kidnapped on Thursday night. Investigation is ongoing.”
The Guardian additionally reported that the victim is the 2025 President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite.
