Tanzania showcases agric products at Kano trade fair

Tanzania made a strong showing at the 46th Kano International Trade Fair, attracting traders, investors, and visitors with a broad selection of agricultural and manufactured products.

According to a statement on Thursday by the United Republic of Tanzania High Commission in Abuja, the country showcased its premium coffee, tea, spices, sisal, and leather goods, commodities for which it is internationally known.

Tea and coffee, staples in Nigeria, along with locally valued spices used in traditional medicine and cuisine, present Tanzania with a growing opportunity in the Nigerian market. The East African nation already exports Arabica and Robusta coffee, multiple tea varieties, and a range of spices across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

The fair, held from November 22 to December 6 at the Aminu Dantata Trade Fair Complex, was organised by the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

Tanzania’s participation underscores its efforts to strengthen trade links with one of Africa’s largest consumer markets.

“A major development boosting commercial ties between both nations is the recent launch of direct Air Tanzania flights from Dar es Salaam to Lagos. Operating three times a week, the service has significantly improved connectivity and continues to enhance trade, tourism, and business partnerships,” the statement added.

Officials noted that relations between Tanzania and Nigeria have strengthened in recent years, with both countries exploring deeper cooperation across various sectors. They emphasised that the growing populations and untapped economic opportunities in both nations make such partnerships increasingly valuable.
