Four national titles will be contested on December 26 and 28 at separate boxing events in Lagos, the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control has confirmed.
The GOtv-sponsored Flykite Promotions event, scheduled for December 26 at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island, will feature two title fights.
National Super Bantamweight champion Durotimi “Tiny” Agboola will defend his title against challenger Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke, while Imole “System” Oloyede and Saddam Oladipupo will battle for the vacant National Lightweight title.
Two days later, at Campos Mini Stadium, De-Lads Promotion will showcase two additional national titles.
Hassan “Tiago” Tiamiyu, known as “Soldier Boy,” will defend his National Super Welterweight title against Saheed Abdullahi, while in the female Bantamweight category, Simisola Popola will contest the title with Omowunmi Oyesiji.
Dr Rafiu Ladipo, President of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, expressed satisfaction with the festive period schedule, saying, “These title fights represent the perfect end to what has been an exciting year for Nigerian boxing. We are pleased to sanction these contests and look forward to seeing our boxers showcase their skills.”
Secretary General of the NBBofC Remi Aboderin added, “The fact that we have four national titles being contested within three days shows the depth of talent in Nigerian boxing. We expect competitive fights across all weight categories.”
The December 26 event will also feature a bantamweight clash between Toheeb “Full Tank” Hassan and Ezekiel “Touch” Seun as part of GOtv Boxing Night 34, which will combine boxing with live musical and comedy performances.
Hassan issued a fiery warning to his opponent after training in Lagos on Friday.
“Touch is a skilled fighter, no doubt, but I want everyone to know I’m coming with a full tank of fury. I’ve trained harder than ever, sharpened every punch, every combination. When I step into that ring, I won’t just be competing; I’ll be dominating,” he said.
Seun responded with equal intensity, saying, “I respect Full Tank as a boxer, but respect doesn’t win fights. I’ve studied his style, watched his past bouts, and I know his strengths, but I also know his weaknesses. When we meet in the ring, it’s going to be all about strategy, speed, and precision.”
