Woman drags friend to court over alleged threat to life
A petty trader, Helen Okeke, on Wednesday dragged her friend, Patience Udeme, before an Upper Customary Court on Daura Road, Kaduna, for allegedly threatening her life.
The complainant, through her counsel, A.M. Aduma, alleged that the defendant had defamed, intimidated, and used abusive language against her.
Okeke further claimed that the defendant accused her of practicing witchcraft, an allegation she said has caused her constant pain and fear.
To support her claims, she presented witnesses who testified to a heated exchange of words between the two parties that nearly resulted in physical combat.
The defendant’s counsel, H.T. Oyebanji, cross-examined the witnesses before the court closed the hearing for the day.
The presiding judge, Patience Musa, adjourned the matter until Feb. 3 for a ruling and the commencement of the defence hearing. (NAN)
