X suffers global outage
X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced a widespread service disruption on Monday, preventing users in several parts of the world from accessing the platform.
The outage affected both the mobile application and desktop version of the site. Users attempting to log in were unable to view their timelines, posts or notifications.
In many cases, the platform loaded a blank screen displaying only the X logo, with no additional content appearing.
Reports of the disruption surged on Down Detector, a website that monitors real-time outages. Data on the platform indicated that users across multiple continents were experiencing similar access issues, suggesting the problem was not limited to a specific region. The timing and cause of the outage were not immediately clear.
Unlike some major technology companies that operate dedicated service status pages to provide updates during technical incidents, X does not maintain a standalone public status dashboard.
The company typically uses its own platform to share information about system disruptions.
However, because the service was inaccessible to many users, official updates could not be readily communicated through the platform itself.
As of the time of filing this report, the company had not issued a public statement explaining the cause of the disruption.
