NABTEB urges youths to embrace TVET for skills
The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has urged Nigerians to leverage Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to equip youths with employable skills, entrepreneurial capacity, and practical competencies needed for national development. The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, made the call in a statement by the board’s spokesperson, Uchechukwu Olisah, while speaking on the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into technical colleges across the country. According to him, TVET remains a critical pathway to skills acquisition, job creation, and sustainable livelihoods, noting that it empowers young people with practical abilities required for economic self-reliance and national growth. “TVET equips youths with employable skills and entrepreneurial capacity essential for development. Nigerians are encouraged to choose skills, choose opportunity, and choose a secure future by taking advantage of technical colleges,” he said. Dr Mohammed also reaffirmed NABTEB’s readiness and institutional capacity to conduct a smooth, transparent, and hitch-free registration process for the 2026 NCEE nationwide. He disclosed that the board has put in place comprehensive administrative and technological measures to ensure a user-friendly and stress-free registration process for candidates, parents, guardians, and school administrators. “These measures are designed to eliminate bottlenecks, enhance nationwide access, and uphold the highest standards of examination integrity,” he said. He added that the policy would reduce financial and logistical burdens on parents and guardians while enabling schools to effectively guide candidates throughout the registration process.
