
Police dislodge bandit camps in Kaduna, arrest 17
The Kaduna State Police Command has dislodged several bandit camps and arrested 17 suspected bandits during a major clearance operation across four local government areas of the state.
The operation, conducted between February 10 and 13, 2026, targeted identified criminal hideouts in Kajuru, Tafa, Igabi and Kauru.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the command said several bandits were neutralised during fierce exchanges of gunfire, while suspected informants and drug suppliers linked to criminal networks were apprehended.
According to the statement, three English-made AK-47 rifles, seven fabricated firearms, one English pistol and a large quantity of hard drugs were recovered in the course of the operation.
The police said some of the arrested suspects sustained bullet wounds, adding that those in custody include alleged drug suppliers working with the criminal gangs.
The suspects were identified as Ahamdu Bala and Abdullahi Alh. Fulani; Ado Bayero Reku; Samaila Bala; Nasiru Rabiu; Ibrahim Bello; Jafar Adamu; Nura Abdullahi; Adamu Alh. Raini; Adamu Haruna; Ado Babwuro; Shuaibu Sa’idu; Isiya Bammi, alias Kire; Kabiru Adamu; Habibu Rabiu; Suleiman Adam; and Abubakar Idris.
The command said the investigation was ongoing to dismantle the wider criminal network and arrest fleeing suspects and their accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, assured residents that sustained intelligence-led clearance operations would continue across identified flash points to rid the state of banditry, illegal arms proliferation and related crimes.
