
Body of 65-year-old man recovered from deep Oyo well

The Oyo State Fire Service on Thursday announced the recovery of the body of a 65-year-old man from a deep well at Oke-Oga Atipe, Idi-Aga, Ibadan.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Reform and Chairman of the agency, Moroof Akinwande, in Ibadan.
PUNCH Metro reports that a similar incident occurred in November 2025, when the body of a 45-year-old man was recovered from a deep well at Odo-Ogbo, Oja-Agbe area of Iseyin.
Akinwande said, “The distress call was received at exactly 09:42hrs on Thursday, December 4, 2025, through a telephone call from Mr Damola, that someone had fallen into a deep well at the above address. The agency’s officers, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen, were promptly deployed to the scene.
“On getting to the scene, it was discovered that a man of about 65 years of age had fallen into a deep well. He was recovered and handed over to a team of policemen led by SP Idowu from Agugu Police Division.”
He urged members of the public to avoid depression and always observe safety precautions in their daily activities.
The chairman also emphasised the importance of having fire extinguishers in buildings to help prevent incidents, especially during the dry season.
