There is growing concern across Bayelsa State after reports emerged that the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was rushed to the hospital following a sudden collapse at the Government House in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, reportedly caused immediate alarm among his aides, staff, and government officials.
While the exact cause of the collapse remains unknown, sources said Ewhrudjakpo slumped unexpectedly while attending to official duties, prompting an urgent response from his aides and security personnel.
He was initially taken to the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, before being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for closer monitoring.
The hospital premises quickly became crowded as top government officials, politicians, and religious leaders visited to show solidarity and pray for his recovery.
When contacted, the deputy governor’s media aide, Doubara Atasi, confirmed the development but declined to provide further details.
Asked to comment on the incident, Atasi said simply, “Yes,” before ending the call.
As of the time of filing this report, the Bayelsa State Government had yet to issue an official statement, leaving residents and members of the public anxiously awaiting an update on Ewhrudjakpo’s condition.
