
LAMATA extends rail services for ‘The Experience’ 2025
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has extended operations for commuters on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line to travel with ease for ‘The Experience’ 2025 happening this weekend.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Kolawole Ojelabi, head of corporate communication, LAMATA, on Wednesday.
“Commuters heading to The Experience 2025 can now travel with ease as the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has approved extended operations on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line for the event weekend.

“To manage the anticipated surge in passenger movement to and from Lagos Island, the LRMT Blue Line will run longer hours on Friday, December 5, 2025, till 11.43 pm beyond its operational closing time of 9.30 pm. While on Saturday, December 6, 2025, operation will commence at 4:00 am, running through 9:30 pm, to support post-event return trips and regular weekend travel,” LAMATA noted.
It also stated that the LRMT Red Line will operate on Friday, December 5, maintaining its exact schedule of (6:00 am – 10:00 am) and PM Peak (5:20 pm – 8:40 pm) to accommodate evening commuters.
“The Red Line does not operate on Saturdays. All services will return to the standard timetable from Sunday, December 7, 2025,” LAMATA stated.
The Experience is a free, all-night gospel music concert held annually in Lagos, Nigeria, convened by Paul Adefarasin, pastor of House On The Rock church.

The event, which features both Nigerian and international artists, takes place at the Tafawa Balewa Square and draws hundreds of thousands of attendees in person, with millions online live-streaming.
LAMATA reiterated that the Red and Blue Line trains remain open to the public, noting that commuters must use their Cowry Cards for access and are encouraged to plan, follow station guidance, and cooperate with officials to ensure a smooth and safe travel experience throughout the event weekend.
